Dad During a Pandemic

Perhaps you have been wondering how Dad has been fairing during this on-going Covid-19 episode. Well, here tis'.

masked picture circa winter 2016/17 maybe?

Dad is a creature of habit. Pre-Covid-19, every few months he made a beer run, a booze run, a smokes run. On weekends when Toni wasn't cooking, Dad frequented Mim's Mighty Subs, the Chinese place next to Walmart, Jacamo's, The Flamingo (what a disappointment when they are out of cottage cheese) for takeout to be eaten at his own kitchen table. Dad would often flaunt how many days of meals he can get out of one Chinese lunch special or a Mim's Mighty Sub. He discovered that Dollar General has most items he needs, negating the need to venture into Walmart to shop.  Dad would tell of how many car races were on for the weekend, ask how the kids were, give a daily weather report. I often heard of what Toni prepared for dinner delivery and where the neighbor's chickens were foraging that day. Simple pleasures for a simple man with a complex brain.

So here we are, 8 months into masking-up for a pandemic and I'm here to give you an update on how Dad is fairing.

Dad is a creature of habit. Every few months he makes a beer run, a booze run, a smokes run. On weekends when Toni isn't cooking, Dad wears a mask to frequent Mim's Mighty Subs, the Chinese place next to Walmart, Jacamo's, The Flamingo (what a disappointment when they are out of cottage cheese) for takeout to be eaten at his own kitchen table. Dad often flaunts how many days of meals he can get out of one Chinese lunch special or a Mim's Mighty Sub. He continues to shop at Dollar General which has most items he needs, negating the need to venture into Walmart to shop.  Dad tells of how many car races are on for the weekend, asks how the kids are, gives a daily weather report. I often hear of what Toni prepares for contactless dinner delivery and where the neighbor's chickens are foraging that day. Simple pleasures for a simple man with a complex brain.

You see, Dad has been preparing for the social distancing and safer-at-home orders for decades now. He's up to hero status when it comes to avoiding the virus safely.

Dad has become famous for his motto used often with Mom's health and progress after the stroke, POR for Press On Regardless, and that is just what he is doing.

  1. Peggy. This is great! Your dad is an interesting character with a lot of original ideas. Your mom came along and helped him create a very successful business.
